This blog will guide you through what makes LOVESPACE different from other self-storage providers and how our services provide convenience to university students.
1. You only pay for what you need.
We are the UK and Ireland’s first and largest storage by-the-box company. We’re a convenient alternative to traditional self-storage, as you only pay for what you store. If you only have a few boxes and suitcases, you shouldn’t need to rent an entire storage unit. Not only that, but LOVESPACE offers great discounts for longer stays, with prices starting from only £3.25 per box per month.
2. You can put your items in storage, without the hassle of travelling to a physical self-storage facility.
With standard self-storage services, you would need to load your boxes and items into a car or van, and drive to a storage unit. To address this, some storage companies offer collection if you live nearby. At LOVESPACE, regardless of where you live in the UK or Ireland, we collect your stuff from your home or student accommodation building. This saves you time and money: you can store your stuff without having to step one foot out of your home!
3. We collect your items free of charge from your accommodation.
If you have placed a storage by-the-box order with us, our standard collections are free of charge. We will collect your items from your accommodation, store them for as long as you like, and deliver them back to you whenever you need them. However, if you want collection on short-notice or on a weekend, there is an additional charge, but you will always be notified of your price before you book.
4. Our high-quality packing materials.
Our sturdy cardboard boxes are made of double-walled cardboard, and are reusable, recyclable and environmentally friendly. We offer our LOVESPACE boxes in three sizes, and offer more specialised materials such as crockery boxes and suitcase boxes, and of course packing tape and bubble wrap. Many self-storage companies sell packing materials, however our boxes that are designed specifically for storage and transportation, and for the handling of particular items, ensure that your belongings are safe and protected. You don’t need to use our materials to store with us, but we highly recommend it.
We also deliver our materials the next working day (excluding Sunday) if you place your order by 11am the working day before. Your boxes will be with you in a flash!
5. Doorstep collection
A service that many of our competitors do not offer is our doorstep collection. If you live above the ground floor in an apartment building or student accommodation and would like your stuff to be collected directly from your door rather than the reception or ground floor, you can rely on our doorstep collection service! For an additional £30, our drivers will collect or deliver directly to and from your doorstep: this skips the hassle of moving your items up and down the stairs!
6. Storage Units and Packing
If you have a lot of items, or have bulky furniture to store with us, we also offer storage units: sizes from 15sqft to 200sqft+. Our storage units work the same way as the by-the-box storage, we collect your items from your address. Check out whether our storage units are available in your area here.
One of the services that we offer exclusively to storage units and removals customers is our packing service. For as little as £79, we will carefully wrap and pack your items on the collection day. This service is inclusive of packing materials: our drivers will bring sufficient cardboard boxes, tape, bubble wrap and anything else they require to pack up your stuff – saving you up to approximately £70 on packing materials already! This is a service that no other self-storage company offers and is truly convenient for movers, especially international students who do not have family to help them move out of their student accommodation. We always put our customers first and treat their items as if they were our own. That’s where the love from LOVESPACE comes from! 💓
7. Removals and shipping
We don't only offer storage. The versatility we provide through our services is something we are confident that no other self-storage company offers. If you don’t need storage but are moving home and need our help, we also offer a shipping and removals service.
If you have packed your items already but need help with moving them to your new home, our shipping service will ensure that your belongings will be delivered safely and securely to any address in the mainland UK within 3 working days.
If you would like your items to be collected and delivered on the same day – our removals service is the one! We offer small removals starting from £399 (for studios and 1-bedroom properties) and large removals from £699 (for 2-bedroom properties). We also offer a ‘mini-move’ service, from £199 - suited towards students living in accommodation buildings who just have a few boxes and suitcases to move. Our removal rates are inclusive of professional movers for up to 5 hours, a transit van or large luton van and up to 25 miles in distance (with longer-distance moves available for an additional fee). Similarly to our storage units, for an additional cost we also offer our premium collection service where we will pack, disassemble and reassemble your items and furniture!
8. You can add and remove items from your order even after you’ve placed it.
If you don’t know how much exactly you are looking to store and you want to place your order, just take your best guess! You can easily add and remove boxes and items as often as you like until 11am the working day before your collection through your online LOVESPACE account. Many self-storage companies ask you for a full list of what exactly you want to store before giving you a quote, but we understand that there may be things you want to add or take out at the last minute, before putting them in storage. We offer that flexibility to make sure you are storing your items with 100% certainty. This applies for our by-the-box service: if you are storing in our storage unit, you will be able to store as many boxes and items as you like, up to the capacity of the storage unit size that you have chosen.
9. Every box has up to £100 coverage included.
Ensuring your items are protected by insurance is important when using self-storage and in many cases most storage companies offer coverage for your belongings with an additional cost. Some companies don’t offer coverage at all, and you may need to seek elsewhere to take out a policy to protect your belongings against theft, damage or loss.
At LOVESPACE, every box and other item is covered for up to £100 free of charge: both on its way to and from our storage facility and during storage, provided they are properly and securely packed.
If you’d like to upgrade your coverage, we offer it for up to £200 or £500 per box or other item per month, for a small additional charge. Please note that there are items we don’t provide coverage for – for more details check out our FAQs here.
10. Store for as little, or as long, as you need!
Many storage companies have a longer minimum storage term: although you can access and retrieve your stuff at any time, you would still have to pay the minimum period of storage upfront, such as 8 weeks, or even longer.
At LOVESPACE, our minimum term of just 1 month gives you the flexibility to store for as long as you like, from as little as a few weeks, without getting overcharged. You have complete freedom to request all your items back together, or individually, whenever you like, during your chosen storage term. If you choose to store with us for more than a month, we’ll charge you monthly, so you won’t have to pay the entire cost upfront. Remember – the longer you book storage with us, the cheaper your monthly price!
