Front End Developer

About LOVESPACE

Hi, we’re LOVESPACE.

We’re not your traditional storage and removals business. We’ve been changing the way people move and store stuff for the last decade. We built the UK’s first and largest storage-by-the-box business, and we continue to build smart tech to make it easier for people to move and store stuff on their terms, without the need to leave home or pay for more storage than they need.

We’ll collect almost anything our customers want to store, keep it all securely, then return it anywhere in the UK, as soon as the next day. Or they can drop off their stuff at one of our fully automated drop-off locations. We also offer home and business removals nationwide.

We are well on our way to becoming the first choice for Brits who need help moving and storing their stuff. In the past few years, we’ve been named High Growth Team of the Year, The UK’s Most Innovative Business, Crowdfunded Business of the Year, and one of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the UK (twice!).

Our culture

We believe everyone in the team has a huge part to play in our success, and you should be able to bring your best self to work. It is this belief that drives us, as well as our shared values:

We’re a varied bunch from all over the world and different backgrounds. We care about spending time together, and we also embrace hybrid working, with most of the team in the office three days a week. We also have regular socials throughout the year.

We are looking for the next amazing member of our team, someone with the ambition and creativity to contribute to a rapidly growing business with plenty of opportunity for personal and professional growth. If that sounds like you, read on. We’d LOVE to hear from you.

About the role

LOVESPACE is looking for an experienced frontend developer to join the Tech team and head up development of customer-facing products. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will interface with our Product team and stakeholders both internally and externally (partners). If you’re looking for a challenge, opportunities to expand your skillset with our tech stack, and a chance to build and test great products with our lovely customers, then you are probably who we are looking for. There’s never a dull day, and you will have the opportunity to add value from day one.

Key responsibilities:

Above anything else, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our customer-facing products (including our website). It goes without saying how crucial these interfaces are to the success of our business. This means we need a customer-focused developer who cares about the details and the experience of the end-user. You won’t be alone though, as our Product team and the wider business will be right there to help. We are also keen to provide career progression, for yourself, and for junior members of the team, so a willingness to share knowledge and coach is important.

Essential skills:

Our primary JavaScript framework is Vue.js, so proven experience building with this is a must. Our current customer website is also built with WordPress, so knowing your way around that CMS will be necessary. You should be familiar with consuming and designing requests/responses for RESTful APIs as you work alongside our backend team. On top of this, you’re going to need to have a solid understanding of good UX and be able to make anything you build compatible across devices and optimised for a fast page load speed.

Great skills to have:

Our legacy JavaScript framework is AngularJS, so any familiarity with this is advantageous ahead of us completing any further migration to Vue.js. If you have any experience building with NuxtJS which we are moving our WordPress website to, you’ll score significant bonus points.

We’d love to hear of any experience with SEO, PWA development, implementing analytics and A/B testing (Google Optimise), which are all responsibilities of this role.
